Basic html

Jack I understand your frustration, been there done that so I do know the feeling. All these things look a bit scarey and that the beauty of using this type of editor, it will add the code for you. These symbols tell the browser how the it should open the message. It's a simple web page maker that shows the web page as a post when you publish it. You need to open the edit box to see the code...that little pencil thingo

Ok lets start doing stuff to this short sentence: (from pride stories)

I was so excited to be going camping. Me and three of my buddies

To make part of the text BOLD:
Select the text to make bold then click on the b icon above and it auto adds the code to the text making it BOLD. Click on the preview link on the top right of the page to see how it will look
I was so excited to be going camping. Me and three of my buddies

To make part of the text ITALIC:
Same as the BOLD but use the i icon.
I was so excited to be going camping. Me and three of my buddies

To make part of the text ITALIC and BOLD:
Same as BOLD but use the b and i icon on the selected text.
I was so excited to be going camping. Me and three of my buddies

This is where it can become a bit confusing. Because I have used Bold and Italic for the first
and the last part is Italic only it added quite a bit of code and starts to look cluttered, yeah and confusing. Have a look at the Tut doc I emailed earlier. It might help you see through the tangle it can become...lol I have tried to colour code the different parts.

These sites have basic html tuts and help for newbies.

What is HTML?

Learn Basic HTML - for Beginners' Web Sites

The web sites I linked to (above) are examples of links that open another site. Type the text you want to use as a link. The first link is to a site called Basic HTML: Introduction

So I type:
Basic HTML: Introduction
This is the name of the site, select this text, click the link icon and paste the site url into the popup box, all done.
You will find the URL for the site page near the top of your browser when you visit that site...

Text linking is not restricted to other site links, it can be used to link your text to other media like video, images and music.
A couple of examples:

Midlife Crisis - Ren and Stimpy
Link to Video on YouTube

On youtube video you will find the url here

Buenos Aires
Link to an Image
The URL can be found here and will usually end with a .jpg or .gif extension but not always.
When you find an image you want to link on another site right click the image, from the dropdown menu select View Image. The image will open a in a new page...that is the URL you will need

Linking text to another site is a start. More then text can be used as links, will get to that next
