Jack's Song Of The Week-June 14th

JSOTW_1.jpg

Well Happy Flag Day! Yep, today is one of the days we Americans are supposed to hang the old Red White and Blue outside our homes proudly. My flag was ruined during the winter and I've yet to purchase a new one. Pity, because it added some color to an otherwise drab exterior.

It's been a pretty busy week here for me. I hadn't had time to listen to much new music. I am in the process of learning a new language called HTML, or blog speak would be a better word. In order for me to get efficient in this thing called blogging, there is a whole set of rules that u need to know in order to do cool stuff like adding pictures to highlighted words, and all of theses terms that let the computer know that what ur typing is what you want printed. It is not fun and I get lost and pissed off upon every reading of the info that I have printed out. Fooey on technology, but hopefully it will click like most things do with me.So far "Not So Much".

So what happened around the U.S. this week. Well that Miss California lady got to hear Donald Trump's favorite words. Your Fired is the phrase I'm thinking of. It seems while she crusaded across the country spreading her own good word, it seems she forgot she had contractual obligations that actually had to do with her tiara. She was asked to turn that in along with her sash and sceptor. I'm sure they are going to let her keep the boobs that the pageant paid for.

David Letterman managed to bunch up Sarah Palin's panties this week after a joke was made about A Rod(Ball player) knocking up her daughter during a recent visit to the ball park. If you ask me A Rod should have been madder than Palin. It's good to see Letterman cross the line once in a while. He is getting older and a bit more mellow in his wit.

The U.S. is also into selling prisoners it seems. Rather than figure out what to do with these guys, we just shopped around to see who would buy our current residents of Guantanamo. Hey the republicans love capitalism, so they should be happy for Thailand for striking a deal. I'd be willing to take one for far less than what they are going for.

My lawn needs mowing and I could easily electrify my fence!

Chastity Bono announced that she will be having gender reassignment surgery. That's one way to top Mom in the elective surgery department! After seeing a few recent pics, I only have one question. What sex will she be transitioning to? Chastity has gotten a bit large and I'm not sure if she is officially Chaz yet. She looks like one of the Nelson twins after a bad patch. I'm all about people being happy, so go to it!

How about a tune? Well that's what we're here for, after all. Josh Ritter has been around for a while. I remember playing some of his stuff when i was spinning at The Iron Monkey in Jersey City a number of years ago. Josh was born in Idaho and both of his parents were neuroscientists. Cool that they got a musician out the pairing. Josh pursued studies in neurscience, but the music bug bit him and he attended music school in Scotland. He soon started making enough money to be a full time musician and got signed. He was influenced by Bob Dylan and early Johnny Cash. His stuff is light and doesn't always lean to hard core folk. This week's song is called "Right Moves" and to these ears , it has a certain amount of Lennon to it. It's a good summer song. Enjoy.

I didn't get to do any research this week for celebrity birthdays, but it looks like I typed enough to intrude on your day in a reasonable amount. Have a great week.

Hey TJ. I dont know if u even check here much but I have a question. Ive been reading all of the tuturials, but the one that I reall like will not seem to print properly. Id rather have it written in front of me when I try to put everything on Word rather than have to go back and forth between screens when I need to check something. Its the Basic HTML introduction site. When I try to print it, I only get the color stuff and not the small print. When I print anything else, my printer works fine. Go figure. I like that site the best because it's more detailed instead of just a list of the terms. Part of thye reason I get aggravated working on stuff on Word is that I have to keep changing screens for reference. Have you ever had a certain site not print properly for no apparent reason?

Basic HTML

OK, I went to ther Basic Hotmail page and have read the first entry a number of times. Its at least making sense to me know instead of just seeing a language that I don't have a clue about. Im printing it up and will probably go onto the second one. It says to do one a day, so if I feel that vein in the side of my head start to pulsse(as opposed to the other one in a much better head) Ill just shut off and take a breather.
I feel like such a kid with all of this. Golf was easier, and I still suck at that.

Jack's Song Of The Week-May 30th-Original

Hello music lovers. It was a pretty laid back week here. Not much happening at work and no casualties.
As always, the U.S. is in turmoil due to our president making a decision. Or in this case, a Supreme Court Judge choice. The little lady with the great name is sure making the republicans puckers pucker! Ms. Sotomayor is in all kinds of heat due to some past judegemnts involving caucasion fireman that got passed up for promotions due to a bit of affirmative action stuff going on. Oh yeah, she also stated that she would have a better view on things due to her being a Latina woman. Now what woman haven't I heard say "If We Could Run Things, It Would All Be Better"? Poor lady. I'm sure she'll get the job. She certainly seems smart enough and experienced enough. She ain't slinging hash, so how could I judge her? For some reason when I hear the name Sotomayor pronounced, I hear Oksana Bauil. At first I thought it odd that a Russian figure skater was getting appointed to the Supreme Court. That's just one of the odd way that my brain works. I'll be glued to Sotomayor's interview procedings! I say give it to Judge Judy! They don't keep her there cause she's beautiful ya know!
Now how about some cool summer white boy soul? Uh oh, I guess in this political climate, that's a racial statement. I'll never be a judge! OK, enough of that. This week's song is as smooth as a snifter full of aged tequila, except I dont grimace and shake like a spaz after. James Morrison is his name and he is a mere 26 years old. I believe he is a Kiwi and hails from Rugby, Warwickshire(correct me if I'm wrong, but just keep it inside). He has a really soulful voice that screams everything from Stevie Wonder to Jamiroquai. The song is called Nothing Ever Hurt Like You. No, it's not a Susan Boyle song about her boinking her first groupie! It's really fun and the production is very old school. Lots of good horns and stuff to keep your ears busy. Perfect convertible music as well!
James attributes his rich voice to a case of whooping cough that nearly killed him when he was a baby. He's had a number of hits in the U.K. Here is a link to the video. When I checked it out at youtube, the sound started a bit late, so be patient.

I had a number of songs in store for this week's pick. So I'll defintely have left overs to reheat and share in the coming weeks. Enjoy your Sunday and have a fantastic week.
Oh yeah, a belated birthday goes to DJ Jaimie in Atlanta. Dj. Joanne is also on a trip to Utah in search of an unhappy Osmond(Marie is better now since the meds and the dolls), I hope my musical gift made it to the road trip!

Jack's Song Of The Week-May 30th

G'day Jack....try adding the links you want to use in this edition of JSOTW. I had to embed another version of James Morrison's Nothing Ever Hurt Like You, embedding has been disabled for that video but have added a link to the one you wanted. This is only an example. I have posted a copy for you so do your own thing and see how you go...Im just about to do a post on Embedding and how it differs from Linking....
About those tag errors and then tags cannot enclose tags errors, its a stuff up in the changes made and that red warning, you cant publish because of tag errors etc. is because your post will not work the way you expect if published. You can overide this by clicking on the disable box on this red warning and then publish it...you will see where its stuffed up. Dont forget the preview option...lets you have a look before you publish. I will do that embed/link thing and some info about what those <>" " and the others mean...Cheers TJ
